A beautiful museum in a special location. The museum shows the collection of one of the most famous museums in the world: the Hermitage State Museum in St. Petersburg. The Hermitage is located on the Amstel and is easily accessible by public transport.
The Stedelijk Museum - Museum of Modern Art, is located on the famous and much visited Museumplein in Amsterdam. It is the largest museum of modern and contemporary modern art in the Netherlands. Not everything in the museum is ultra-modern though; the historic building in which the museum is housed dates back to 1895.
With reconstructed villages and a huge collection of exotic objects, the Tropenmuseum is a must-visit for every culture lover. Especially for the little ones, there is a section where kids can go on explorations, play exotic instruments and learn while playing. Its location just outside the centre ensures that you do not find yourself in the middle of the busy stream of tourists.
Tucked awa in Amsterdam's city center you can find a uniquely preserved seventeenth-century house from the Dutch Golden Age. In the museum, through narrow corridors and stairs, you'll be led to historically furnished living rooms, kitchens and bedsteads, and eventually the literal highpoint of the museum: an entire church in the attic.
