Good hotel, service can be better

The hotel is very good, room and bed quite comfortable, no noise even we were on first level. Its location is nice, residential area with lots of coffee places and restaurants nearby. The service overall was good, staff was attentive but they did goof on an important issue. I need to travel with some refrigerated medicines, which I kept well in the minifridge. But the night before checkout I gave my ice pack at the lobby to be frozen overnight to be able to use it. The next morning they returned it but was not frozen as it was placed in the refrigerator section. They apologized and as our flight was not until 5 pm they offered to freeze it for us until then. But, when we returned to pickup luggage and medicines they had lost my icepack. For 20 m they looked for it unsuccessfully and the guy at reception was not even apologetic. We had no alternative but to ask for ice and pack my medicines, which during the flight melted snd wet several of my clothes. I understand things can go wrong, but not being empathic with the situation they created is not what I expected. They didn’t offer a solution. In general the staff at reception were not very friendly.

It has it's good and bad points

A lovely historic hotel that used to be a civilian hospital built in the 1800s. PROS: (1) The staff is extremely friendly. One of the guys that works in the restaurant literally walked us to the Muiderport train station around the corner because we were very anxious about making sure we got on the correct train in order to get to the airport on time. (2) Breakfast was really good. There was a wide array of items to choose from: eggs, pancakes, various breads, cereals, fruit, yogurt, bacon, sausage, cheeses, various juices, coffee, cappuccino, etc. (3) The room was large with different decor in each room, although our headboard was weird with naked butts by the famous photographer Spencer Tunick. The hotel clerk said it was the most popular room. It was definitely a conversation piece. (5) Very clean. CONS: (1) The location was a distance from the heart of the city but it is located on a tram line to get you to the touristy parts of the city. (2) There is nothing to do in the area of the hotel (no good restaurants or cool night life, no stores other than a small convenience store across the street. There's a couple of little restaurants down the street, but nothing to brag about. (3) The bathtub in somewhat of a hazard if you're a short person like myself. It's too high. The design of the shower door (it's a half door) causes water to leak on the floor when showering and the tub is slippery when there is soap in it. Husband and I both nearly slipped in the tub on 2 separate occasions. (4) Not that we came to watch tv, but when in the room like to have it on. It wouldn't work half the time. I would have enjoyed this hotel more had it been located in a different area.

Nice rooms

A little stand-off ish and unfriendly at times. Some even laughed behind my back as a collected luggage. I was appreciative of being able to leave it there for a few hours, but some miscommunication made me leave with a sour note. Young lady went to luggage compartment; I saw luggage; man accompanying her insisted on having my ticket - that’s fine. Was a Little hard to find and he then made faces to her behind my back. Felt pretty awkward and nasty to be honest. I found the ticket, then he asked why I didn’t just ID the luggage in the first place as knew where it was. It all got twisted and and as I left, it was just strange. Bit of a mocking vibe which I didn’t like. BeIdes that, room was nice, a little dark, but comfortable. Just think customer service, friendliness and a smile, with slightly less attitude would make it a great stay. Many thanks

Excellent

Super tasty breakfast, calm and clean rooms, amazing friendly staff. My stay was for business and I really enjoyed the comfortable mattress, coffee machine and fridge in room and new clean towels every day.
